Looking for a fresh start in WoW, with a guild that intends to take PvE progress seriously, but dont want to commit to the usual 19.00 start times or 7 night a week raiding? Maybe you want to enjoy the levelling process without ridiculous levelling expectations or the pressure to hit level 70 within a week?

<Sacrament> may be the guild for you! Our leaders are ex-hardcore raiders who have experienced 7 nights a week, 'server first' focused gaming, and have realised that a more relaxed, friendly but still focused schedule is not only more fun, but ultimately leads to less WoW burn out and a more stable guild in the long run.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Guild

Sacrament is an alliance World of Warcraft guild that was set up on EU Khadgar on 1st February 2008. The aim of the guild will be to progress through end game PvE content, however not at the expense of our members real life commitments. We will not be a guild that relentlessly aims to compete for the server number 1 guild position, neither will we expect our members to power level to 70 within a week. Instead we will be looking to set up a stable, long term community for people who want to make progress in WoW but arent interested in whether or not it makes them 'famous'.

The type of people we are looking for are gamers of 18+ who perhaps have commitments that keep them from playing video games all day long, things like a full time job, an education that they take seriously, a husband/wife or kids that demand attention etc, reducing their play times to 'after work' hours and weekends. Alternatively, we are also happy to accept people who just dont want to play WoW all day everyday and would rather play on a less 'hardcore' schedule for whatever reason.

This does not mean we are looking for 'casual' players. The aim of the guild is PvE content; in order to make progress we will expect a certain amount of activity and dedication from our members, and we will certainly be looking for people who can have a high level of raid attendance. However, we will never expect our members to log on at 9 in the morning and log out at 2 the next morning.

Raiding

Our tentative raid schedule will look something like this:

Sunday: 20.30/45 - 0.30
Monday: 20.30/45 - 0.30
Tuesday: no raid
Wednesday: 20.30/45 - 0.30
Thursday: 20.30/45 - 0.30
Friday: no raid
Saturday: no raid

We will never schedule raids for more than 4 nights a week - more than likely we will start out with 3 nights a week in Karazhan and will add a 4th night later - and we will never start raids any earlier than 20.45 server time, with invites going out at 20.30. This should provide plenty of time free for real life commitments, and shouldnt place too much strain on peoples schedules. We will however expect our members to be able to attend raids frequently (see below).

Recruitment Guidelines

One of the foundations on which we intend to base the guild is a slightly more stringent recruitment policy than is generally seen in reroll guilds. There are several reasons for this; one is that an enormous amount of serial rerolling takes place in WoW these days, with the same people flitting around between every new reroll project that is formed, and we are determined to avoid this kind of player.

Another perhaps associated reason is that a whole lot of bullshitting goes on as well; if you tell us that your past WoW experience involves main tanking Illidan or whatever, make sure you can back it up with an armoury profile. People who refuse to give armoury profiles for their most advanced characters will be turned down on the basis that a) they are lying about something or b) they dont want other people knowing who their main character is, which says a lot in itself really.

The most important reason however is that we are determined to only accept the right kind of people, those who obviously understand what the guild is about and can see the direction we are hoping to head in. If under 'what do you expect from Sacrament?' your answer is "to get epixepixepix and be leetsauce famousolololol", or whatever it is the kids today jibber on about, then its unlikely we will accept you Wink

We arent restricting ourselves to applicants who have vast experience of raiding; some is preferable to none obviously, even if its only for example Kara/Gruul or perhaps AQ20/MC from pre-TBC (level 60 raids done at level 70 dont count as raid experience though really; thats just playing an already fairly easy game on even easier mode). The reason for this is two fold: firstly, WotLK is (so Blizzard say...) just around the corner, which will nullify the effect of people knowing encounters already, and secondly that experience of high end raiding certainly doesnt make someone a sound person, and doesnt neccessarily mean they are particularly talented at WoW in comparison to those with less experience either. As long as people have the ability to listen to and carry out instructions, can attend raids frequently and have a real desire to progress through content in WoW, then thats fair enough really, everything else can be easily learnt. We will expect our members to understand things like the need for consumables and the cost of repair bills though. Numerous wipes while learning a new encounter in WoW are part of the game, if you cant hack this then stick to PvP, you'll get far less frustrated and spend far less gold Razz

Two other points to mention are firstly that we will under no circumstances recruit people under 18, and secondly that we wont recruit ready made groups of people (certainly groups of 4+, although we arent likely to recruit groups of 3 either). If you are a large group of people looking to reroll, a much better idea is to form a guild of your own in all honesty.

Guild Rules

- We will expect our members to be tolerant and respectful of the other people in the guild. Any disputes should be settled in private; if that is not possible, an officer can be asked to intervene, however 'verbal' abuse and arguing in guild chat will not be put up with. Noone wants to have to see that kinda crap on their game time.

- Emo quitters will not be allowed back into the guild. Ever. Once an emo quitter, always an emo quitter tbh.

- People found to be indulging in excessive levels of drama, be it over loot, raid rotations, BG queues, repair bills, bigger boys.......basically any of the usual things people cry about in WoW, will be advised to take some basic acting lessons to learn how to channel their talent a bit better. If it gets to the point where drama is affecting the other members of the guild, action may be taken that will likely lead to the thespian in question finding a more suitable guild for themselves.

Seriously though, drama is piss poor and we wont put up with it; if a guild member has an issue they want addressed, they are encouraged to see the guild master or an officer and get it dealt with rather than let it affect the other guild members.

- People found out to be scammers or ninja looters will be booted from the guild instantly, particularly if it comes at the expense of another guild member.

- Members are asked not to give the guild a bad name by acting like asshats in the public chat channels, in BG's or on the realm forums.

- As regards raids: we will expect people to be able to attend at least 75% of raid nights over a 2 week period, which works out at 6 nights spent online and raiding out of 14. This is by no means a 'hardcore' schedule, however it could hardly be described as casual gaming either. If you arent able to achieve this level of attendance, a different guild would probably suit you better.

We will operate a raid sign up system based on character archetype (tank, healer, dps), however there will always likely be some degree of class balancing required that means we wont neccessarily work on a first come, first served basis. We will however try to rotate members from reset to reset where possible so that everyone gets a chance to raid, and will certainly aim to run more than one team for instances that only require 10 people. Signing up for raids but then not turning up will be treated very seriously; theres few things in WoW more annoying than a raid not happening due to people doing this. Obviously shit happens sometimes, but people found to be acting this way on a regular basis will be asked to find a more casual guild with less emphasis on progress.

Raiders will be expected to be able to use Vent/TS. Tanks and raid leaders will be expected to have a mic and to use it, although this is not neccesary for other members. There will also be a requirement for certain add ons to be used, both in general and class dependent.

A final thing to note is that we will expect people to choose the best PvE talents for their spec; this does not just relate to tanks and healers, but also (perhaps even more so) to DPS classes, an example being talents which reduce the amount of threat caused by damage done to a mob.

- As regards PvP: the vast majority of people enjoy PvP and spend a lot of time honour farming in the BG's; nothing wrong with this at all. However, the main aim of Sacrament will be PvE progress, and we expect our members to feel the same way. If you consider raiding and dungeon crawling to just be something to do from time to time when AV isnt up, then you'd probably be best in a more PvP orientated guild.
